Watch: Rescued Hedgehog ‘Dobbie’ Released Back Into Nature

Dobbie, a hedgehog who was rescued in Għarb, Gozo and weighed less than 60g when saved, is now returning back to the wild!

Nature Trust Malta shared a video of the return process, after weeks of care and plenty of growing. She has now reached around 350g and is ready for her next adventure.

Another hedgehog rescued during the same period, Kenuna, has a little more growing to do so she will still be undergoing care.

All of the animals rescued by the wildlife team are protected species and it is illegal in Malta to harm them or keep them as pets.

Volunteers have wildlife handling permits and training as well as equipment.

If you spot any of the wild animals that we rescue injured or in danger, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.
