Embellishment and regeneration works are currently underway at the Belvedere in Nigret, Żurrieq, as part of a wider government initiative to improve public infrastructure and create community-friendly spaces across Malta.

The Public Works Department has already completed a number of new pavements in the Nigret area, enhancing safety and accessibility for residents. Now, attention has turned to a previously neglected belvedere, which is being redeveloped into a welcoming space for relaxation and social use.

During a site visit, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said the aim is to transform underutilised areas into accessible spaces where families and the elderly can spend time together. “This is part of the transformation that, as a government, we are driving forward in the heart of our communities,” he stated.

The ongoing works include resurfacing the area, installing new benches, and fitting modern lighting to enhance the atmosphere and safety of the site.

Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia also noted that more projects are set to follow in the coming weeks and months, with continued collaboration between the Żurrieq Local Council and the Public Works Department.
