The Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government has announced the return of ŻiguŻajg Malta’s Arts Festival for Children and Young People, now celebrating its 15th edition. The festival will run from 14th to 23rd November 2025, with performances and activities taking place across Valletta, Birgu and Gozo.

Over the past fifteen years, ŻiguŻajg has become a cornerstone of Malta’s cultural calendar, offering world-class productions created specifically for children, young people, and their families.

Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici said, “ŻiguŻajg is more than a festival; it’s a cultural investment in our children and young people,” said Minister Bonnici. “It provides them with a unique opportunity to explore new forms of expression and to connect with the transformative power of the arts.”

President of Fondazzjoni Kreattivitàm, Rupert Cefai, reflected on the festival’s lasting impact saying, “For fifteen years, ŻiguŻajg has offered young audiences the chance to experience the wonder of live performance. It doesn’t just entertain it inspires moments of reflection, joy, and discovery that stay with children and families long after.”

Festival Director Marta Vella described this year’s programme as “a celebration of creativity in all its forms saying, “By revisiting repertoire favourites and introducing new commissions, our aim is to offer imaginative and inspiring experiences that fuel curiosity and strengthen ŻiguŻajg’s legacy as a festival dedicated entirely to children and young people,” she said.

The 2025 programme presents a rich variety of experiences, spanning theatre, dance, music, film, puppetry, clowning, and visual arts. Families can look forward to enchanting productions for babies and young children such as Chasing Rainbows and Univers; magical adventures like Cabinet of Miracles and Kinder; and innovative works for older children and teenagers including Uncover|Discover and What’s Missing?. The festival will also feature the Academy Award-winning film Flow as part of its line-up.

Local Maltese-language highlights include Paramm Paramm and Anton u l-Għakruxu, alongside family favourites such as The Complete History of Malta (More or Less) and The Complete History of Europe (More or Less).
