Palazzo Preca Restaurant in Valletta is channeling its inner Miriana Conte and serving up ‘KANT’ cocktails.

That’s right – the iconic Eurovision winner of the Maltese version of the contest this year has found herself on some delicious cocktails – a brew of pink gin, lychee, fresh squeezed lime and bubblegum syrup.

‘Following Mirana Conte’s success at the Eurovision Song Contest’, the menu reads, ‘here is a cocktail dedicated to the winning song. Miriana will be representing Malta in Basel in the coming months.’

The cocktail features an image of Miriana on the iconic bouncy ball which enter the performance later on during the act – an iconic moment if we know of one!

Matthew and Keira, a talented father-daughter duo, left the Brillanti Malta judges in awe with their breathtaking performance of The Prayer, originally by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion.

The number of non-fatal workplace accidents in the second half of 2024 decreased by 24 cases compared to the same period in 2023. No fatal workplace accidents were reported during this time.

Administrative records indicate that 1,103 non-fatal accidents occurred between July and December 2024.

The manufacturing sector accounted for the highest share, with 180 cases (16.3%), followed by construction (145 cases, 13.1%) and administrative and support services (120 cases, 10.9%).

Nearly one-third of those injured returned to work within three days, while 18.5% were absent for 21 days or more.

Elementary workers and craft-related tradespeople were the most affected, with 26% of accidents occurring among individuals aged 35–44. Maltese workers comprised nearly 70% of those injured.

The most frequently affected body part was the back, including the spine and vertebrae, accounting for 30% of injuries. Wounds, superficial injuries, dislocations, sprains, and strains were the most common types, totalling 661 and 340 cases, respectively.

Enterprises with 50–249 employees and those with 500 or more employees reported the highest accident rates (26.4% and 23.9%, respectively).

In 2024, the overall rate of non-fatal workplace accidents stood at 689 per 100,000 employees, with manufacturing and construction recording the highest incidence rates. The year’s fatal accident rate was 1.3.
