Royal Caribbean’s highly anticipated cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, is nearing its grand debut in January 2024, having successfully completed its initial sea trials in Europe.
This extraordinary vessel is poised to become the world’s largest cruise ship and the first of Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class fleet. Built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship promises an unparalleled experience for vacationers.
It boasts the world’s largest waterpark at sea, featuring six water slides, along with a “resort getaway,” a “beach escape,” a theme park, and over 40 dining, drinking, and entertainment options.
Inside, passengers will find the unique “Ultimate Family Townhouse,” a three-story adventure-filled accommodation complete with an in-suite slide, karaoke station, and hidden areas to explore.
With 20 decks, the ship also features Royal Caribbean’s inaugural piano bar, eight distinct neighbourhoods, a massive pool, and thrilling experiences like Crown’s Edge.
Weighing in at an estimated 250,800 tons and accommodating approximately 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members, the ship has undergone rigorous testing, involving over 450 specialists, to ensure its readiness. Additional sea trials are planned later this year before the ship’s inaugural voyage from South Florida in January 2024.
