The Malta Independent on Sunday has revealed that a single plane ticket to cross between Malta & Gozo will cost anywhere between €25 and €35.

This was stated by Gozo Regional Development Authority CEO Mario Borg, with plane service to take off once the airstrip project is completed.

Borg told The Malta Independent on Sunday that planning stages are currently under way, with the GRDA also being responsible of the project’s regional impact assessment. The GRDA CEO applauded the Ministry for Gozo for taking the right steps in its engagement with the GRDA with regards to planning, sustaining both parties’ commitment to not affect any agricultural land.

Towards the beginning of May, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri had proposed to extend the airstrip from 170m to 450m, sustaining that no agricultural land will be used.

Carnival is normally held in February around the world, with Maltese and Gozitan celebrations typically marked by a mass retreat to Gozo and a spectacle of multi-coloured floats and costumes in Valletta and other key points.

This year’s one-off summer activities were previously announced by Minister Owen Bonnici, with multiple dance competitions taking place in St. George’s Square in Valletta together with a défilé with King Carnival.

Nadur’s extravagant spontaneous carnival also returned with a bang this weekend, featuring a number of typically-satirical floats taking digs at public figures and current events. One in particular highlighted Żaren tal-Ajkla’s recent breast implant electoral proposal.

Did you attend any carnival festivities?
