Woman Dies After Getting Caught Between 2 Vehicle Crash

Yesterday, at around 2200hrs, police were informed that a traffic accident had taken place in Xatt il-Barriera, Valletta.

Police convened on site and from preliminary investigations found that a crash had taken place between a Subaru Impreza driven by a 23 year old man resident of Raħal Ġdid and a Ford Fiesta, which was on the side of the road.

At the time of the crash, a 62 year old woman resident of Ħamrun was caught between the two vehicles, while a 69 year old man resident of Ħamrun who was in the Ford Fiesta suffered injuries.

Other parked vehicles also sustained damage.

The 23 year old driver did not suffer any injuries, but, as a medical team gave assistance to the victims, the woman was pronounced deceased on site.

The 69 year old man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital and was confirmed to have suffered serious injuries.

An inquiry has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
