Winners Announced In The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Restaurant Survey 2023

In the world of upscale dining, every nuance matters. The ambiance, the service, the presentation, and of course the taste, all come together to create a memorable experience. Did the sommelier’s wine recommendation elevate the main course? Was the dessert as enchanting as the setting sun? Every dining experience is about ensuring that every visit is not just a meal, but an experience worth cherishing.

Thanks to The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo annual restaurant survey supported by the MTA, Global Payments and Nestle that was conducted on September 2023 regular diners were asked to rate their favourite restaurants that they had visited in the last year for Food, Service and Ambience and to give their comments. This innovative annual study involves researching over 2,000 catering establishments in both Malta & Gozo. With our objective in mind to establish Malta as the gastronomic centre of the Mediterranean, the people’s choice ensures an objective list of the very best in catering across our islands to date.

This year we had a great response with 4,143 participants in the survey, dining out on an average 1-2 times per week – a total of 323,154 dining experiences in a year. The results of the survey are analysed by an impartial, independent market research company, based in US, which specialises in data analysis and the top rated 150 restaurants will then feature, at no cost to them, in the upcoming edition of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Malta & Gozo 2024 which will be launched during the lavish Restaurants Awards Gala Dinner ceremony held on Monday 4th December.To see the latest results, purchase our Guide 2024 (23rd) Edition by visiting our website here.

New King Charles Speech Pushes For Complete Smoking Ban

King Charles has announced plans to incrementally raise the legal smoking age in the UK by one year annually. This means that a 14-year-old today will never reach the legal age to purchase cigarettes.

The monarch aims to create a “smoke-free generation” with this legislation, aligning with Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s earlier proposal. Sunak emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of smoking initiation, as most smokers start before the age of 20.

Currently, the legal age to buy tobacco products in the UK is 18, a regulation implemented in 2007. Smoking indoors in public spaces has also been prohibited nationwide since the same year. Vaping, however, is permitted for those 18 and older, with no universal restrictions on public usage.

The proposed plan mirrors measures recently enacted in New Zealand, where tobacco sales were prohibited for those born after January 1, 2009. The UK may adopt a similar approach, effectively making it impossible for the next generation to legally purchase cigarettes.

Additionally, single-use vapes are anticipated to be banned due to concerns about their appeal to children.

These measures, however, have been met with opposition from groups like the Freedom Organisation for the Right to Enjoy Smoking Tobacco (Forest), who argue that they constitute a form of “creeping prohibition” and infringe on personal choice. Former Prime Minister Liz Truss also voiced her disagreement, advocating for fewer bans.

Both pages boast an insane amount of follows and likes, showing this Maltese mum’s time for relaxation after such an understandably intense experience to welcome their new family member.

Every Household Experiencing Power Cuts Should Get Automatically Reimbursed, PN Says

During this year’s Budget reaction speech, Opposition and Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech proposed that every Maltese household experiencing power cuts should get automatically reimbursed.

Addressing the Speaker, Grech stated that he cannot avoid tackling the country’s energy situation, highlighting the amount of blackouts experienced in Malta this summer.

“This summer, the people fell victim to the incompetence and lack of investment from this government. The government’s failure in this sector continues to confirm how the Nationalist Party Government Administration was right with its vision for the interconnector.

In addition to this, Grech proposed an adequate and rapid investment in Malta’s distribution network, a data analysis system which can be collected from Smart Meters and more.
