World renowned sports account highlights Maltese Gostra

The traditional Maltese Gostra, which has been a staple of Maltese sporting and celebration events, has just received the spotlight of an international sports account. 

Bartool Sports, which boasts a whopping 13.6 million followers on Instagram, shared a reel of participants attempting to reach the flags at the end of the slippery pole.

The platform called the Gostra the ‘greatest sport you’ve never heard of’, describing how the sport, which is dated to Malta’s Middle Ages, invites participants of all ages and lifestyles. 

The video shared by Bartool was viewed 5.8M times and liked 166K viewers, meaning that the cultural phenomenon iconic to the tiny Mediterranean island has just garnered even more attention from all over the globe.

This fitness lifestyle seems to be deeply instilled into the Labour Party leader’s schedule, despite the business which comes with being the leader of a country.

Posting to social media, fitness trainer Harsha Bin Azeez shared a quick gym selfie with the Prime Minister, saying that this is how the ‘father of a nation should be. A common man and close to the people.’ 

The selfie earned the Prime Minister praise for his making time to chat and workout like a normal person despite his current political position.

Woman grievously injured after Land Rover flips over

Yesterday, at around 1830hrs, police were informed of a traffic accident in Triq San Pawl il-Baħar, San Pawl il-Baħar. 

Police convened immediately on site and, from preliminary investigations, found that a 49-year-old woman resident of the same locality lost control of the Land Rover Defender she was driving and flipped over. 

A medical team was called on site to give the woman first aid and later transport her to Mater Dei Hospital. She was certified as having suffered grievous injuries. 

Police investigations are still ongoing.
