Twitter and Tesla boss Elon Musk has officially lost the throne of ‘richest man in the world’ to Bernard Arnault, chairman of luxury group LVMH… but how much do we know about Arnault?
If you didn’t know already, LVMH is a French holding multinational corporation and conglomerate which is home to some of the finest luxury brands in the world including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Dom Pérignon, Moët & Chandon and Tiffany & Co., amongst many others.
73-year-old Arnault’s net worth is currently listed at a cool $187.3 billion (€174.4 bn) on Forbes’ billionaires list, as his luxury goods empire continues to grow around the world. His rise to the top comes as a result of 51-year-old Musk’s net worth dropping by $4.5 billion after the tech boss made a number of tricky moves in relation to his acquisition of social media platform Twitter.
Not a stranger to the rich-list’s top spot, luxury tycoon Arnault keeps a relatively low profile, shifting from construction to real estate before eventually taking over fashion & luxury. His empire eventually grew to cater to some of the wealthiest people in the world, with over 60 prestigious subsidiaries making part of LVMH.
espite this, Musk still remains in second place with a $174 billion fortune, with Indian industrialist Guatam Adani in third with $133 billion and Amazon boss Jeff Bezos in fourth with $114.8 billion.
