Here is everything you need to know about the Johnny Depp – Amber Heard trial ahead of the verdict.

Six weeks on, and the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial is almost over.

Depp launched a $50 million defamation suit against Heard after she wrote a 2018 editorial in the Washington Post she wrote about her experiencing domestic assault.

In suing for defamation, Depp said in 2019 that he ‘spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath’.

Depp’s lawyers went on to deny Heard’s claims of abuse, accusing her of creating “an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity” and “advance her career.”

Depp claims that the op-ed ended his acting career, with Heard countersuing Depp for $100 million.

The seven person jury is deciding Depp and Heard’s suits simultaneously.

The verdict is expected as early as Tuesday, with millions following along.

The couple first met on the set of the shared 2011 film ‘The Rum Diary’. Depp was in a long-term relationship with French musician and actress Vanessa Paradis whilst Heard dated photographer Tasya van Ree.

The couple married in 2015 after secretly dating, but ended it just 15 months later. Heard cited irreconcilable differences in a petition for divorce, and even filed a temporary restraining order against her spouse amid allegations of domestic violence.
