A recent study published by the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology highlights a strong reason to invest in experiences rather than material possessions. The research involved 2,635 adults who were surveyed about their emotions and spending habits through text messages.
Participants who spent money on experiences- such as dining out or attending events- reported higher levels of happiness compared to those who purchased material items like clothing or gadgets, regardless of the cost.
In a follow-up experiment with 5,254 participants, the findings were further validated. The study demonstrated that experiences consistently lead to greater happiness, even when considering different consumer profiles.
The research concluded that spending on experiences enhances well-being more effectively than acquiring possessions. This is attributed to the greater joy derived from the enjoyment and reminiscence of experiences compared to material goods. The study suggests that focusing on experiences rather than things is a promising strategy for boosting overall happiness.

A new trailer for Brad Anderson’s ‘The Silent Hour’ decided that Malta would be the best portrayal for the US city of Boston, with what seems to be the Birżebbuġa Freeport doubling for Boston.
The capital city of Valletta also seems to make an appearance, as the actors run through the locations we are accustomed to.
Valletta Pictures took to social media to shout out AGC Studios, Meridian Pictures and Paramount for the ‘excellent production.’
The film is set to star world renowned actors such as Joel Kinnaman, known for RoboCop, & Silent Night, and Mark Strong, known for Kingsman.

Yesterday, at around 10pm, the police were alerted to a traffic accident on Triq L-Imġarr, Għajnsielem.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a collision occurred between a BMW X5, driven by a 19-year old man from Għajnsielem, and a Mitsubishi Pajero, driven by a 78-year old man from Għarb. An 83-year old woman from Għarb was also in the Mitsubishi. The impact caused the Mitsubishi to overturn.
A medical team provided assistance at the scene, an both the 78-year old man and the 83-year old woman were transported to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance for further treatment. The man was diagnosed with grievous injuries, while the woman sustained slight injuries, while the woman sustained slight injuries.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
