It’s always quite a sight to see when Sicily’s Mount Etna is spotted from Malta, but a recent snap captured by local photographer Daniel Cilia truly encapsulates the natural beauty of the volcano and the unspoken connection between Malta and Sicily.

The shot, captured by Cilia on what he called a ‘simple’ Nikki 500mm lens pictures a majestic fuming Mount Etna caught in between two highrise buildings at Tigne Point, one of which being still being developed during the time of the photo.

The photographer stated that he captured the snap from the ‘parking down from the House of Four Winds’, which photo has since garnered over 600 likes and close to 100 comments praising the beauty of one of Sicily’s natural wonders which is seen from Malta every now and again on days with good visibility.

Have you ever seen the Etna from Malta?

As the years roll by and the world continues to take a crack at a more sustainable environment with less waste, the Gozitan area of Fontana seems to have achieved quite the feat after lighting up a gorgeous Christmas tree made out of completely recycled material.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri took to Facebook to share a few photos of the Christmas tree made from a whopping 8,800 recycled plastic bottles which were collected by members of the locality.

Camilleri stated that the activity was organised by Gozo’s ‘Fontana Goes Festive this Christmas’ with help from the ministry and explained how the entire locality collaborated to raise awareness on the excessive use of plastic around the world.
