Watch: Entire stadium erupts as Messi makes PSG debut

Yesterday, the entire Stade Auguste Delaune erupted with applause when Lionel Messi replaced Neymar Jr in the 65th minute to make his debut at PSG and in French football. Even opposing team Reims fans were seen clapping the Argentinian when he came on.

The game ended in a 2-0 win for PSG. Even though Messi made his debut, Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show as he scored all of PSG’s goals to secure their 4th win of the season. When Messi came on, the game changed, as PSG targeted their attacks more towards the center as opposed to the wings which was the tactic used whilst Neymar was playing with the team.

Most Reims players were mesmerised by the fact that they were playing against Lionel Messi. So much so that Reims keeper Predrag Rajković asked Messi to take a photo of him with his son.

The new arrival of Messi will surely benefit not only PSG but also the entire league. Messi will bring more and more eyes onto the league, similar to when Ronaldo joined Serie A.

Malta with second highest TV or video streaming across EU

According to a survey conducted by Eurostat, around 93% of people in Malta between the ages of 16 and 74 streamed TV or videos in the first three months of 2020. Together with Finland, Malta registered the second highest percentage of people who streamed TV or videos. The countries in first place were Cyprus and the Netherlands at 95%.

Romania and Bulgaria observed the lowest shares at 37% and 44% respectively. The shares were surprisingly lower for listening to music at 61% and playing/downloading games (34%). The survey also showed how 75% of these aged between 16 and 74 that used the internet in the previous three months read online news sites, newspapers and news magazines. 74% watched internet-streamed videos or TV. In terms of downloading or playing games, Malta and Denmark ranked in second at 47%.

Cloudy skies ahead for the start of September

The summer season is gradually closing as clouds seem to be dominating Malta’s skies throughout this entire week. The first two days, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st, are set to keep the sunlight we’ve grown accustomed to but with a considerable dip in temperature. Today is set to feel like 31 degrees Celsius, going up to 34 tomorrow.

But on Wednesday, the first day of September, the weather is set to stay partly cloudy, giving autumn and winter lovers the first taste of their favourite indoor, cozy seasons. The temperature is set to fluctuate between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius throughout. We hope you had your last few summer beach days and splashes because we’ve finally started the road to cooler weather. And quite frankly, it’s about time!

50 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 51 recoveries

76 COVID-19 cases registered with 49 recoveries

Malta has registered 50 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,278 swab tests, while 51 patients have recovered. No deaths was registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Saturday 28th August 2021, 795,566 vaccine doses were administered of which 413,174 were 1st doses. 412,002 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 36,089 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 34,618 have recovered, 440 died and 635 are still active.

Mater Dei Hospital is currently treating a total of 27 COVID-19 positive patients, two of whom are in the ITU.
