Valletta Crash Driver To Be Charged With Involuntary Homicide

A 23-year-old man from Paola is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday on charges of involuntary homicide and drink-driving, following a fatal car crash in Valletta late on Sunday.
The victim, 62-year-old Mildred Azzopardi from Ħamrun, died at the scene after being struck by a Subaru Impreza driven by the accused.
The vehicle crashed into a parked Ford Fiesta on Ta’ Liesse Street, trapping the mother of four between the two cars.

The incident was one of three fatal road accidents recorded on Sunday, making it a particularly tragic day on Malta’s roads.
Earlier that afternoon, a woman was killed in a head-on collision in Fgura. A few hours later, a motorcyclist lost his life in a separate incident in Pietà.
This followed another fatal accident on Saturday, when a motorcyclist died in a crash, bringing the weekend death toll from road accidents to four.
