According to new data by the National Statistics Office, the number of persons registering for work in July 2022 stood at 925.
This is a decrease of 617 when compared to the same month in 2021. Data provided by Jobsplus for July 2022 shows an annual decrease of around 580 persons registering under Part 1 as well as a decrease of 37 people registering under Part 2.
Unemployment levels decreased across all age groups and genders. Males accounted for 71.8% of total registrants whilst females accounted for 28.2%.
Persons who had been registering for work for less than 21 weeks and those had been registering between 21 and 52 weeks decreased when compared to 2021’s July. Those registering for work in June this year was slightly higher than July: 954 and 925 respectively.
A larger drop was seen among people registering for work for more than one year. In July 2022, the number of persons with a disability registering for work decreased by 33, reaching 225 persons.
Part 1 registrants are people seeking new jobs after leaving school, re-entrants or people made redundant by former employers. Part 2 registrants were either dismissed from work due to disciplinary actions, left work out of their own free will, refused work or were struck off the register after law enforcement inspection.
