Private meeting between Prime Minister and Daphne Caruana Galizia family following apology

Private meeting between Prime Minister and Daphne Caruana Galizia family following apology
Aug 5 2021 Share

Prime Minister Robert Abela allegedly held a private meeting with the Caruana Galizia family on Wednesday, following the apology given after the public inquiry found that the state should shoulder responsibility for the assassination. Reported by the Times of Malta, the meeting was attended by Peter Caruana Galizia, the late journalist’s husband, two of their sons and her sister Corinne Vella.

The details of the meeting remain undisclosed, with sources telling Times of Malta that they revolved around implementing recommendations which were made by the inquiry board. Compensation was, reportedly, not discussed. The public inquiry found that the state should shoulder responsibility because a culture of impunity was created from the highest institutions. Nothing was done to prevent the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, despite evidence suggesting there was need for it.

Abela also held a meeting with an Institute of Maltese Journalists delegation. During this meeting, the Prime Minister allegedly discussed the implementation of recommendations involving journalists and to reform the media sector.

Jack Grealish set for £100m move to Manchester City

Aug 5 2021 Share

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has agreed to move to champions Manchester City. The deal is said to be worth around £100m – a deal which will make him the most expensive English player in the world. The English player has been linked with a move away for some time now, but due to his love to Aston Villa, he delayed his move until he felt that the club doesn’t fully rely on him anymore. Grealish still turned up to training even though he knew that he’ll be leaving.

Aston Villa have had a very good summer when it comes to transfers. They used the money that they received from the transfer to sign highly coveted Jamaican winger Leon Bailey and underrated English striker Danny Ings. Manchester City also aren’t done with the transfer window. They are still chasing English star striker Harry Kane, but to get Grealish down the line will be a good sign for the Manchester City fans.

We wish Jack Grealish the best of luck in his future endeavours.
