The Danish and UEFA medics were highly praised for their immediate reaction in going to help Christian when he collapsed. The medics did an outstanding job in not only reacting quickly but doing everything in their power to keep Christian alive. Denmark captain, Simon Kjær, was also praised for the way he handled the situation. Even though one of his closest friends was in danger of dying, he still managed to regroup his team and take care of Christian’s wife and family.

Eriksen had this to say after the winners were announced, “I would like to thank Morten [Skjoldager], Morten [Boesen] and the medical team who helped in Parken on 12 June. You did a fantastic job and saved my life. “Also, a big thanks to my friend and captain Simon and my teammates in the Danish team for your support, both on 12 June and afterwards. Thanks to all the fans who have sent messages to me and my family. It means a lot and has given us strength and support. Thank you.”

An increase in people going to hotels in 2021’s second quarter
Aug 25 2021 Share

Compared to 2021’s first quarter, the amount of people staying in hotels and similar establishments increased by around 60,000 between April and June. Statistics released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show how the number of people who stayed in hotels in the second quarter of this year reached up to 143,773. Compared to the same quarter of last year, the increase is more notable given that the pandemic hit in the first few months of 2020.

In between April and June of 2020, there were only 17,157 people staying in accommodation establishments. The number of nights between the second and first quarter of this year also increased by almost double of last year’s. A total of 305,114 nights were spent in hotels in between January and March of 2021, whilst a total of 596,740 nights were spent in between April and June. 2020 saw only 64,185 nights spent in these establishments in between April and June.

Cristiano Ronaldo linked to both Manchester City and PSG

Aug 25 2021 Share

Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t had the perfect time in Turin at Juventus. The main aim of the Bianconeri signing of Ronaldo was to finally win their first UEFA Champions League since 1996. 3 seasons on and Juventus now have a 36 year old Ronaldo and still no UEFA Champions League. Reports in Italy and France are saying that Cristiano is already looking for a new challenge preferably, in England, with Manchester City and PSG right now seen as the player’s only two options.

It is said that the player’s preferred move is to Manchester City. Reports in France have stated that his agent Jorge Mendes has offered the Portuguese superstar to the Cityzens. Juventus are said to be willing to lose Ronaldo for a fee between €20million -€30 million. Ronaldo moving to Manchester City will undoubtedly disappoint Manchester United fans, but it is also a way to be coached under one of the world’s best in Pep Guardiola.

Ronaldo moving to PSG is said to be less likely than him moving to Manchester City. Various reports have said that the only way Ronaldo will join Lionel Messi in Paris is if Kylian Mbappe is let go to Real Madrid. It is said that the money from the Mbappe deal would be the source from where they could afford Ronaldo’s wages. The prospect of seeing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo together is something most football fans would want to see.

Sixth form education might be made mandatory in Malta

Sixth form education might be made mandatory in Malta
Aug 25 2021 Share

A drop in sixth-form students in recent years has prompted the Malta Chamber to consider making post-secondary education mandatory in Malta. This would see compulsory education increased by two years up to the age of 18 as well as an overhaul in the education system to improve standards for students and educators.

This news comes as the chamber puts forward recommendations to encourage and preserve in order to boost productivity. Marisa Xuereb, the organisation’s president, stated this would encourage students to keep studying past secondary level. A drop in sixth-form students has been noted as years went on as registrations decreased and even students managing to obtain O-level and even higher exam passes. Do you agree?
