Direct Helicopter Link Between Gozo & Mater Dei Hospital

Direct Helicopter Link Between Gozo & Mater Dei Hospital

Minister for Health and Active Aging, Jo Etienne Abela, announced the launch of a direct helicopter service to transfer patients from Gozo to Mater Dei Hospital.

This initiative addresses the long-standing challenges with Mater Dei’s helipad, which had been non-operational since the hospital’s opening due to landing issues.

Acknowledging the vital role of an efficient helipad for emergencies where every minute counts, the ministry prioritised its rehabilitation in collaboration with the Foundation for Medical Services, Transport Malta, and international aviation specialists.

The helipad was successfully prepared, with its first test flight completed on December 5, 2024. On December 10, the first medical emergency transfer took place.

A Gozitan patient was flown to Mater Dei in just 15 minutes, allowing them to undergo an angiographic procedure in the Radiology Department immediately upon arrival.

Minister Abela emphasised the significance of this development for Gozitan patient care, stating that health remains a top priority. He also announced plans to enhance the service further, including the creation of a helipad at the Gozo General Hospital.

The minister concluded by expressing gratitude to all professionals involved in making this life-saving service a reality.

Donald Trump Launches ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ Fragrance

Donald Trump Launches 'Fight, Fight, Fight' Fragrance
Dec 11 2024 Share

Named Fight Fight Fight, the new men’s cologne and women’s perfume are the latest additions to Donald Trump’s merchandise empire, launched through an opaque LLC.

Following ventures into sneakers and watches, Trump introduced these fragrances on December 8 via his Truth Social platform, accompanied by a meme-style image of himself and First Lady Jill Biden.

True to his signature gold branding, details about the scents remain minimal. The women’s perfume is described as featuring “delicate floral notes and a burst of citrus,” while the men’s cologne is touted as a “rallying cry in a bottle.”

Previously launched Trump fragrances include Victory 45, featuring a cologne bottle with a gold bust of Trump’s head, which sold out earlier this year.

Trump’s history in the fragrance industry dates back to 2004, with Donald Trump: The Fragrance through Estée Lauder and the 2012 Success cologne, which was likened by Bloomberg to “nice men’s body wash.”

Trump Fragrances claims no connection to his political campaign. The products are tied to 45Footwear LLC, the same entity behind Trump’s sneaker brand, and licensed through CIC Ventures LLC, owned by Trump’s Revocable Trust.

Manufacturing details remain undisclosed, as with Trump’s watch line, raising questions about the brands’ operations.

24% Of Surveyed Maltese Youth Engage In Sexting

24% Of Surveyed Maltese Youth Engage In Sexting
Dec 11 2024 Share

A recent survey has revealed troubling statistics about the sexual behavior of Maltese youth, with 24% admitting to engaging in sexting, and 19% sharing explicit photos. The survey, conducted as part of the National Sexual Health Survey (NSHS), highlights the growing influence of digital media on adolescents. Nearly one in five young people reported sharing sexually explicit photos, while 16% met a sexual partner in person after first encountering them online.

This surge in online sexual activity is largely attributed to the easy access to mobile phones and the internet, platforms that have become central to modern adolescent socialization. However, experts warn that such exposure, especially when young people lack the maturity to process or verify what they see, can lead to risky sexual behaviors and potential exploitation.

In response to these concerns, authorities have stressed the importance of providing comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). The Personal, Social, and Career Development (PSCD) curriculum, which begins in Grade 4 and continues through Grade 11, aims to give students the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their sexual health.

Additionally, initiatives like the BeSmartOnline! project are working to raise awareness about the dangers of inappropriate online content, offering guidance and resources to help youth navigate the digital world safely. As the internet continues to shape the sexual experiences of young people, experts emphasize the need for accessible, reliable education to ensure their wellbeing and safety in an increasingly digital world.
