A turtle that was found in the shores of Marsalforn bay has been rescued by Wildlife Rescue Team Malta after it was found that the turtle could not swim properly due to a large amount of algae accumulated on her flippers and carapace.
Earlier during the week, Wildlife Rescue Team Malta asked the public to get in touch if they spotted the turtle anywhere after divers noticed that the animal had difficulty swimming due to algae growth on its flippers and carapace.
They confirmed that ‘Lucky’ is now at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Xrobb l-Għaġin for treatment and that she will be assessed by their vet to see why she’s accumulating such a big amount of algae on her flippers and carapace.
