Search and rescue teams from all over the world, including Malta’s own Civil Protection Department dispatch, have come together to attempt to pull any survivors from the devastating scenes of the earthquakes.

In some cities, thousands came together in moments of joy as rescuers pulled survivors and children from under the rubble but despite this, various groups and authorities have claimed that hope is fading.

Those who were lucky to survive now face what has been dubbed as a “secondary disaster”, having to deal with homelessness in weather conditions dubbed ‘worsening and horrific’ by the World Health Organisation.

In addition to his hat-trick, Ronaldo’s first goal of the match also marked his 500th club career goal. This achievement further solidifies the 38-year-old’s status as one of the greatest footballers to ever do it, having already scored over 800 goals across his senior club and international career.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in the summer of 2021, has made a strong start to his stint in Saudi Arabia, netting a total four goals in yesterday’s game against Al-Wehda. His hat-trick yesterday is a clear indication that he still has plenty of quality to offer, and fans are eagerly anticipating more memorable moments from the veteran striker.

Yesterday’s victory solidifies Al-Nassr’s place at the top of the Saudi Pro League table with 37 points, with Al-Shabab in close second with the same amount of points.
