Tributes have been pouring in following the passing of Laura Rio, a 30-year-old youth worker at Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, who died on Tuesday after a brief illness.

Described by many as “unrelentingly kind” and full of warmth, Laura’s death has left a deep void in the hearts of colleagues, friends, and the many young people whose lives she touched.

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, where Laura worked, said it was “heartbroken” by the news. In a tribute posted on Facebook, the agency wrote, “Laura’s vibrance, energy, and radiant spirit touched everyone around her. With passion and boundless love, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the young people she worked with, always striving to empower and uplift them. She was the very embodiment of what it means to give voice to youth to truly listen, to believe in them, and to walk alongside them with purpose and compassion. Laura, your legacy lives on in the lives you’ve touched. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”

Laura’s funeral will be held this Saturday, 2nd August, at 9am at Attard Parish Church. A fundraiser has been launched in her memory in aid of Puttinu Cares.

Rest in peace, Laura.
