Tributes From Local Leaders After President’s Husband’s Passing

Taking to social media, Prime Minister Robert Abela offered his condolences to President Myriam Spiteri Debono after the passing of her husband Anthony.
‘The notary Anthony Spiteri Debono was a gentleman and humanity shone in him’, wrote the Prime Minister.
‘He never sought the centre of attention and his vast experience in his work introduced him to many people and allowed him to be of great good to the community.’
‘In public life, he was a man of few words but of big support, especially to his wife and family.’
On his part, recently resigned PN Leader Bernard Grech also offered his condolences, describing Anthony as an authentic, humble and gentle man.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola also issued her own tribute, saying that the Maltese people are ‘immensely grateful for the service of the Notary Anthony Spiteri Debono during this presidency.’
She said that in every conversation she had with him, she always saw a man who is giving his contribution during his wife’s presidency.
All offered their condolences to Myriam Spiteri Debono in this trying time.
