Today will be the hottest day in August as temperatures to feel like 45°C
Aug 17 2022 Share

According to weather forecasters, today, Wednesday 17th August, is set to be the hottest day in the month of 2022 as temperatures jump up drastically before a cold bout next week.

According to Facebook weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’, temperatures are expected to shoot up to 38°C, but due to humid air and wind, the heat stress index is set to feel like a whopping 45°C!

This is an intensely high level of heat, with the weather portal urging everyone to avoid any work which involves physical strain and to stay hydrated as much as possible.

The night time is not set to bring any respite, the weather portal reported, saying that the minimal temperature will not go lower than 28°C. But again, the heat stress index will make it feel like around 32°C.

This comes before the wind is expected to change direction on Friday, bringing in cooler, but stronger, gusts to end the week. Cold temperatures are expected to give us respite throughout the weekend, but we’ll have to power through this one first!

TikToker finds heatwave hack using pads to stop shirt sweat patches

TikToker finds heatwave hack using pads to stop shirt sweat patches

This one might bode well for the Maltese as they are battered by the summer heat. A TikToker by the name of Hannah Dodd has found a hack to stop sweat patches under one’s arm pits showing through your shirts.

The Cheshire based TikTok user tried to come up with a way of stopping the sweat caused by the summer heat and even stop having to throw away clothes due to staining.

Dodd’s search for a solution ended in her buying a box of panty liners. Speaking to NeedToKnow, she said she accidentally bought small panty liners but quickly incorporated them into her life.

She went on to use the products to line the inside of her t-shirts, explaining to her followers how to do this. ‘Panty liners absorb the sweat and because of their anti-odour properties, they’re perfect for a heatwave.

“And for those of you saying ‘ew panty liners. That’s disgusting’ – Stigmatising periods is disgusting.”

She went on to say that this is actually an age old housewives trick but ‘due to the stigma surrounding periods people tend not to share it.’

“Some people have asked if I’m worried about them falling out, but it’s a panty liner – not a concealed weapon.”

Elon Musk ‘jokes’ about buying Manchester United and breaks internet

Elon Musk ‘jokes’ about buying Manchester United and breaks internet
Aug 17 2022 Share

It might not be April Fool’s Day, but Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk seemed to think it’s a good idea to momentarily fool everyone into thinking he’ll buy Manchester United.

The 51-year-old richest man on earth is quite well known for his social media statements, especially on Twitter, and now he decided to tweet out he’ll be buying the team off the Glazer family’s hands.

What’s weirder is that his comment came in a re-tweet to one of his own tweets about supporting ‘the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party.’

And then, as if a wandering thought crossed his mind, he simply said; “Also, I’m buying Manchester United (ur) welcome.”

The internet, suffice to say, had a massive meltdown. The guy definitely has enough money to buy the club which is valued at £4 billion. However, his recent blunder in trying to buy Twitter could have hinted at it either not working out or simply being a joke.

The confirmation came after ‘Tesla Owners Silicon Valley’ tweeted out to Musk, asking him whether he’s actually serious. Musk simply said: “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.’

He did however state that he had a soft spot for United and if he did ever consider buying a team, it would be them. Fans of Manchester United have been quite at odds with current ownership, protesting it on multiple occasions with the slogan ‘Glazers Out’.

Embrace freedom and try out these fun activities this week

Embrace freedom and try out these fun activities this week
Aug 16 2022 Share

As many of us are finally getting some well deserved time off this summer, we thought we’d recommend some of the exciting activities you and your buddies can get up to all across the Maltese islands. We’ll be heading to the sea-side with this one, but there’s a whole array of adrenaline-pumping or outright chill recreations you can indulge in. Here are just five suggestions for you to consider!

Grab a surf board and head to one of Malta’s pristine beaches!
We don’t have these beautiful beaches for nothing – and enjoying their beauty by riding the waves that roll into the sandy paradise that is the Maltese coast is but one of many things you can do this week. We all know you want to relive those dramatic surfboard movie scenes as you make your way back to the bay, surfboard in hand!

Rent a boat and spend a day lapping the sun on the deck!
If you’re looking for something a bit more on the down low, renting a boat with a group of people you know will be a good time will surely make for the relaxing and fun time-killing you’re seeking. You can sun bathe, dance to some tunes or simply enjoy the summer breeze as it brushes your hair.

Uncover the depths of Malta’s surrounding sea with a scuba diving session!
A bit more challenging, especially for those who have never tried it, scuba-diving will show you just how much of the islands you have never seen. The depths are a treasure cove of colours, fauna and flora as well as sunken antiques your eyes are just dying to glance at.

Or turn your attention upwards and glide through the air with parasailing!
If you’re looking to get over your fear of heights, then maybe overcoming it through parasailing could be secret code to doing so whilst enjoying every second of it. You’ll be taken on a sight-seeing voyage around Maltese waters, getting a bird’s eye view of all the panoramic majesties you’ve witnessed from land.

Or maybe even satisfy your need for speed with a jet ski ride.
We cannot not recommend a jet ski ride, especially if the blood-pumping thrill is what you’re after. Get ready to zoom past your friends on the water’s surface – with all safety and precautions in place of course!
