Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the modernisation of the Qormi Health Center. Joined by Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela, the Prime Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to revolutionising primary care, bringing it closer to families across the country.

“The modernization of the Qormi Health Center exemplifies our dedication to strengthening communities by enhancing healthcare accessibility,” stated Prime Minister Abela during the inauguration ceremony. He underscored the importance of investing in various sectors, including healthcare, to meet the diverse needs of the population.

The upgraded Qormi Health Center not only offers general primary care services but also introduces specialised services, notably in the treatment of diabetes. For the first time, patients with diabetes will benefit from a multidisciplinary team and receive personalised care plans on the same day of their visit. The installation of a new X-ray machine promises quicker results with enhanced clarity, complemented by improvements in medical equipment throughout the center.

Accessibility and safety have been prioritised with the installation of an elevator, stairlift, and a new control room. Additionally, facilities for continuous training have been provided to empower healthcare workers. Prime Minister Abela affirmed that such investments aim to create stronger communities, emphasizing the government’s holistic approach to development.

“This investment of €2.8 million signifies our unwavering commitment to providing better care for our citizens,” remarked Prime Minister Abela. He highlighted the transformation of the healthcare sector, from expanding the list of subsidized medicines to upgrading health centers into state-of-the-art facilities.

Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela commended the renovation, noting that it would enable the provision of 23 high-level health services to the residents of Qormi and its surrounding areas. He reiterated the government’s dedication to excellence in primary healthcare, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to enhance patient accessibility across Malta and Gozo.

The modernization initiative, supported by a €10 million grant from the National Development Social Fund (NDSF), reflects the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure and services. Joining the Prime Minister and the Minister were Qormi Mayor Josef Masini Vento and Primary Health Care CEO Roseanne Camilleri, underscoring collaborative efforts towards community well-being.
