Tiger Woods survives California car crash

Feb 24 2021 Share

Professional golfer Tiger Woods is currently ‘awake and responsive’ after experiencing an incident in California.

Treated for multiple fractures on right leg, the 45-year-old athlete was driving a 2021 Genesis GV80 on Hawthorne Boulevard when the car went off-road, trapping Woods inside the vehicle.

The car reportedly went over the central median and crashed into a tree to then roll multiple times. Reportedly using the ’jaws of life’ hydraulic tool to remove the golfer, police stated that Woods was alone in the car during the incident and that the area was a frequent ‘trouble spot’.

Almost 70,000 foreign workers in Malta

Feb 24 2021 Share

Finance Minister Clyde Caruana has revealed that JobsPlus saw the registration of 69,919 foreign workers as of September 2020.

From these figures, 38,406 were from third countries whereas citizens of the European Union amounted to 31,513. This brings up the total of foreign workers towards 25% of the over 500,000 Maltese population.

Caruana stated that spot checks occur in order to make sure no abuses are occurring as the number of workers from third world countries substantially increased, with stays often averaging around three and a half years.

When employees are discovered without a JobsPlus permit, the employer could be directly given a crime sentence.

Marsa Junction going green with 18,000 trees

Feb 24 2021 Share
As part of the project to enrich the Marsa Junction’s appearance, 18,000 trees will be introduced to the scenery.

Infrastructure Malta will be taking up this feat as one of its many plans, with Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg explaining that the environmental aspect of the junction is an utmost priority.

Hoping that the project will reduce traffic congestion, Parliament Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi stated how it required up to 52 Million Euros from European funds. Thus, residents of southern areas need not worry about travel, as the ‘game-changer’ project will alter alternative and mass transport use as well.
