‘They are boasting about being corrupt’; Bernard Grech addresses PN mass rally in Paola

On Sunday evening, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech addressed a sizeable crowd at a mass rally in the Paola Sports Pavilion.

Grech stated that ‘Labour wants to control people’s lives’ but the people do not want to live in this oppression and on March 26th, will vote for change. He went on to state that in the polling booth, voters will make their choice alone and in silence, not through surveys and mass meetings. The PN leader highlighted that those who vote for PN on election day will be voting for change and liberty.

Circling back to the Labour Party’s past legislature, Grech stated that despite pledging to eliminate meritocracy and making Malta ‘the envy of Europe’, “they got us on the grey list.” Mirroring Robert Abela’s claims about Grech and the PN earlier today, the PN leader stated that Labour have learned nothing from their past mistakes.

With regards to the parties’ electoral manifestos, Grech stated that Labour tried to ridicule the Nationalist Party on certain manifesto mistakes and typos, while they took three weeks to publish their own which ‘only includes glittery words and nice design – because their vision does not exist.’

Emma Muscat to give TV interview on Monday amid Eurovision song-change rumours

Amid the widespread national speculation following the release of a brand new Emma Muscat song weeks after her Eurovision Song Malta win, the local songstress will give an interview on TVAM on Monday morning.

Muscat had already stated that she will be releasing a new song called ‘I Am What I Am’ on March 14th, posting a cheeky reply with a telling expression when asked if she changed her Eurovision track.

The 22-year-old won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with her empowering track ‘Out of Sight’, securing the 12-point maximum from every single judge, as well as the public vote. Unfortunately, the track did not receive the same reaction from the international audience, with betting odds giving Malta a 1% chance of winning the contest in Turin.

In its Eurovision history, Malta has had similar situations, with Ira Losco changing her MESC-winning song ‘Chameleon’ to ‘Walk on Water’ back in 2016.

€100 and €200 tax refund cheques to start being delivered tomorrow, says Abela

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that workers, students and pensioners will begin receiving their €100 and €200 cheques as of Monday.

During this afternoon’s Labour Party mass rally in Floriana, the Prime Minister advised that these cheques ‘may be the last [people] get if [they] trust Bernard Grech and the PN’.

Workers and students are set to receive a €100 cheque whilst pensioners and citizens on social benefits will receive a €200 cheque as part of a financial package which is over and above the yearly tax rebate cheques. Addressing uncertain voters, Abela stated that the decision is between the past and present, highlighting that the Nationalist party ‘does not deserve the people’s trust’.

Bus ends up on pavement in St. Julian’s traffic incident on Sunday morning

Early this morning, a bus from the public transport fleet ended up on the pavement in St. Julian’s.

The incident took place at around 6am in Ġorg Borg Olivier Road, with eye witnesses reporting that the incident occurred due to the bus attempting to avoid a waste management vehicle which it could have crashed into due to being on the wrong side of the road

Officials within the Malta Police Force were called on site to assist on the case. A spokesperson for the Force has reported that no one was injured in this incident.
