Woman Breaks Record For Most Donated Breast Milk

Woman Breaks Record For Most Donated Breast Milk

Alyse Ogletree, a 36-year-old woman from Texas, has broken her own Guinness World Record for the largest donation of breast milk, providing an incredible 2,645.58 litres to babies in need.

Previously, Alyse set the record by donating 1,568.79 litres. In an interview with Guinness World Records, she expressed her motivation: “I have a big heart. I may not be able to donate money consistently, but I can contribute in this way.”

In July 2023, Alyse donated her breast milk to the Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas. The organisation estimates that one litre of breast milk can help sustain up to 11 preterm newborns.

Based on this calculation, Alyse’s contributions have benefited approximately 350,000 babies, an extraordinary achievement.

Alyse’s journey began when her first child, Kyle, was hospitalised. After filling the hospital’s freezer, a nurse introduced her to the concept of milk donation.

Since then, she has maintained a rigorous pumping schedule, hydrated well, and followed a nutritious diet, which allowed her to produce an exceptional supply of milk without any medical condition.

Calling it “one of the best feelings in the world,” Alyse is passionate about helping other mothers and educating them on the life-saving potential of breast milk donation.

‘From Field To Fork’: A Taste Of Malta’s Hunting Heritage

'From Field To Fork': A Taste Of Malta's Hunting Heritage

A select group of personalities, broadcasters, journalists, and publishers enjoyed an exceptional culinary evening hosted by the Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (FKNK).

The event featured a game-tasting menu inspired by recipes from the book Game Recipes from Malta.

This unique publication, the only one of its kind in the Maltese Islands, offers a collection of traditional hunting recipes, some previously unpublished, along with contributions from some of the country’s top chefs. These dishes, originally found in hunters’ family kitchens, have now made their way to the menus of some of Malta’s finest restaurants.

The event was part of Game Meat Week, celebrated across Europe under the auspices of FACE (European Federation for Hunting and Conservation). The week highlights food sourced from hunting, with hunters’ organisations from various European countries participating to promote this tradition.

FKNK President Lucas Micallef expressed his gratitude to those attending and shared the inspiration behind the publication. “Food is a universal language that transcends borders, cultures, and languages.

The culinary traditions of each region reflect its heritage, and by sharing these, we foster better understanding,” said Micallef. He also emphasised that this event was the first of its kind organised by the FKNK, underscoring the significance of food as a celebration of cultural diversity.

Micallef highlighted the FKNK’s commitment to sustainability, noting the organisation’s work with other groups focused on preserving Malta’s rural environment.

He also mentioned that the FKNK’s Barn Owl reintroduction project had received a European award, showcasing the group’s dedication to conservation. The book Game Recipes from Malta is available for purchase at leading bookstores and the FKNK office.
