The Busker gave their comfortable and iconic sweaters a break and donned some classy suit pieces by local fashion giants Charles&Ron.

Dave, Sean and Jean Paul walked down the turquoise carpet in Liverpool with absolute suave and took the time to enjoy the ceremony with other contestants before they go head-to-head during the competition.

We’re pretty sure that they will still bring out their sweaters for the performance however, having become an instant recognisable item from Malta’s representative this year.

Earlier today, The Busker posted ahead of their performance in second place, known as the Death Slot, embracing the reputation of the slot as they prepare to make Malta proud no matter the outcome.

It’s Eurovision Day: The Busker to perform tonight in 2nd place

It's Eurovision Day: The Busker to perform tonight in 2nd place
May 9 2023 Share

It’s the big day today as The Busker is set to hit the Eurovision stage for the first semifinal of the 2023 edition of the contest in the Liverpool Arena, UK.

The 67th edition of the competition begins tonight, and will see 15 songs performing tonight and only 10 making it to the Grand Final on Saturday.

Malta’s The Busker, performing their fun piece ‘Dance (Our Own Party)’, will be doing so in second place, known as the ‘Death Slot’.

This is due to only four acts qualifying for the final since 2013 from this position, earning it the ominous title by fans of the competition.

However, Malta’s representatives do not seem to be deterred by this at all, posting to social media: ‘Semi Final Night, Number 2! The Death Slot, Let’s Have It.’

Malta will be going up right after Norway’s Alessandra with her song ‘Queen of Kings’, and right before Serbia’s Luke Black with ‘Samo Mi Se Spava’.

Previous winner and powerhouse Loreen, with her song Tattoo, will also be performing tonight as Sweden’s representative in 11th place.

Ahead of The Busker’s first official performance at tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final, local DJ Debrii has dropped a club ready mashup of the band’s track ‘Dance (Our Own Party)’ on TikTok.

Incorporating Dav Jr.’s vocals with a certified club banger, which also includes a touch of brass, this edit is just what you to get any Eurovision party started in 2023.

The Busker will be performing in the second slot of tonight’s Eurovision semi-final, a time which is typically referred to as ‘The Death Slot’ by Eurovision aficionados, for the fact that only four acts have qualified to the competition’s final since 2013.

Despite this, the Maltese people remain fully supportive of their Eurovision representatives for what looks to be a spectacular show for the island’s sweater-wearing stars.

From tonight’s show, 10 of the 15 entries will qualify for Saturday’s Grand Final, with Sweeden’s Loreen and Finland’s Käärijä amongst the frontrunners to win the whole thing.

Who are you rooting for this year?
