The ever-iconic British train-spotting legend known only as ‘Francis Bourgeois’ became somewhat of an internet sensation thanks to his series of videos in which he exhibits a pure sense of joy and genuine happiness whilst train-spotting. The 20-year-old engineering student gained thousands of fans for his reactions to all that is rail-related, with many Britons calling him a ‘national treasure’ for his pure, child-like reaction to his passion of trains.
@francis.bourgeoisHere we have 73962 (Dick Mabbutt) and 73965 (Des O’Brien). I’ve been trying to spot 73962 for over a year now!! ##trains ##trending ##fyp
However, there seems to be more to this social media enigma that meets the eye, after a fan recently noticed a Spotify link in his Instagram bio to a song on Spotify. The song named ‘Whatley Quarry’ by artist ‘Boggy Can’ is a funky yet melancholic tune which is all about a quarry in Somerset.
The quarry supplies limestone aggregate to local markets via road and a dedicated rail link, so its no surprise why our train-spotting friend would be inspired to write such a piece.
