The details of the 2025–2026 cultural season at Teatru Manoel have been announced, featuring more than 50 productions offering a rich and varied programme. Highlights include Verdi’s opera Falstaff, the musical Amelie, and Maltese-language productions such as the Francis Ebejer award-winning play Sofie.

The season will also feature original productions from TOI TOI, including George Orwell’s classic novel 1984 adapted for the stage and the concert Movie Magic. The traditional Christmas pantomime will also return.

Minister for Culture, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici said, “Teatru Manoel remains one of the country’s key cultural hubs. This season, with over 50 productions, demonstrates the strength of our local talent and the growing collaboration with international artists.”

He added that the programme not only offers the public the chance to enjoy memorable performances but also contributes to education, critical thinking, and the promotion of creativity at a professional level. Bonnici said, “It is gratifying to see the entire Teatru Manoel team working with such dedication to ensure the Maltese public continues to enjoy high-quality art.”

Artistic Director Adrian Mamo explained that the season, with more than 50 diverse productions, provides a platform for numerous artistic entities, including the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, ŻfinMalta, TeatruMalta, and private companies such as Masquerade Theatre Company and Moveo Dance Company. Teatru Manoel also collaborates with festivals including the Valletta Baroque Festival, Malta Spring Festival, and the International Arts Festival, and welcomes artists from countries such as Italy, France, and Greece.

TOI TOI Manager Kate Fenech Field highlighted that this year marks the company’s fifteenth season, with events focusing on storytelling through puppetry, music, and movement. “We have created educational productions as an investment in theatre, with a long-term vision based on serious research, designed to entertain while also challenging audiences,” she said. TOI TOI’s programme will include adventures with penguins in the Trabi series and a Stand-Up segment in the NextGen project.

Teatru Manoel CEO Edward Zammit expressed his gratitude to the team. “Behind every curtain raised, every scene and production, there is a team of artists, programmers, technicians, stagehands, workers behind the scenes, as well as marketing, business development, operations, finance, and administration departments, whose passion, talent, and determination form the foundation of this theatre.”

Teatru Manoel Chairman Dr Michael Grech added, “The theatre is committed to keeping our cherished Maltese language alive.”

The 2025–2026 season promises to cater to all tastes, offering audiences the best in every genre.
