Hotel Invents Plate Which Keeps Beans & Other Foods Separate

Hotel Invents Plate Which Keeps Beans & Other Foods Separate

Premier Inn, a hotel chain, has introduced a unique concept, the “bean barrier,” as the ultimate solution to prevent food items from touching on an English breakfast plate.

Research indicated that 20% of diners dislike runny components of the dish touching others. The concept plate features a crescent-shaped “bean barrier” to keep elements separate.

The study of 2,076 adults revealed that preferences for maintaining separation include egg yolk (63%), baked beans (60%), and tomatoes (39%).

Some individuals even use sausages as a physical barrier or avoid “wet” food components altogether. Ollie Bloomfield, in charge of breakfast at Premier Inn’s largest UK hotel, emphasised the importance of breakfast and the need to respect individual preferences.

The survey also found that 33% plan to have a full English breakfast on English Breakfast Day, with 79% expressing fondness for the traditional morning meal, featuring eggs, sausages, and bacon.

Premier Inn believes the concept plate, while currently just an idea, could enhance guests’ breakfast experiences, offering a solution to achieve perfect flavour combinations.

Youth Activism Matters: Empower Youth Voices

Youth Activism Matters: Empower Youth Voices
Dec 6 2023 Share

The importance of youth in our society and how it functions cannot be understated.

In lieu of this important topic, KNZ is organising a ‘Youth Activism Matters: Empower Youth Voices’ campaign.

This event aims to engage youths between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age in discussions about the importance of voting at 16 and the potential for being elected as mayor at the age of 16 and 17. The conference will feature youth organisations and influential speakers who will provide insights into the youth perspective on civic engagement.

Objectives include raising awareness about significance of voting at age of 16; encouraging the participation of youth in civic processes; and discussing the potential impact of youth participation in local politics.

The latter includes the possibility of electing mayors at the age of 16 and 17 by facilitating open dialogue between youth and experienced individuals in the field.

The event is scheduled for the 16th of December 2023 between 8:45am and 1:45pm at Fort Sant Angelo.
