Summer Carnival 2025 Announced With Vibrant Festivities In Buġibba And Marsaskala This August

The Summer Carnival 2025 has officially been launched and is set to take place between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th August in Buġibba and Marsaskala. This loved annual event promises a weekend full of vibrant entertainment for families, locals, and tourists alike.

Speaking at the launch, Minister for Culture, the Arts and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, said, “The Summer Carnival is a wonderful celebration of Malta’s creativity, identity, and traditions. This year sees the highest number of floats ever taking part a great show of Maltese talent and cultural pride.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, highlighted how the Summer Carnival has become a key part of Malta’s cultural calendar. She thanked Festivals Malta and the local councils of Marsaskala and St Paul’s Bay for their continued efforts in growing the event and keeping this tradition alive. She also noted the government’s ongoing financial support for Carnival activities year-round.

Festivals Malta Chairman, Aaron Zahra, explained that the Summer Carnival offers an additional platform to bring the joy of Carnival to even more people, including tourists visiting during the summer months.

CEO Frans Agius praised the dedication of Carnival enthusiasts and said the event helps showcase the talent and hard work of those involved.

Artistic Director Jason Busuttil revealed that this year’s edition will include a record number of floats, including three from Gozo, as well as several dance troupes in colourful summer costumes. He added, “We invite everyone to join us for this lively, colourful summer celebration.”
