Suitcase Corpse Victim Died Suffocated With 101 Cocaine Capsules In Stomach

TVM News have confirmed that the Sliema suitcase corpse victim’s cause of death was asphyxiation.

According to sources involved in the case, an autopsy performed on Tuesday morning revealed that the deceased, a foreign national, died due to suffocation. It was also discovered that the victim had 101 capsules in his stomach.

The sources dismissed speculation circulating on social media suggesting that the victim’s death was caused by the drugs in his stomach.

Further details from the investigation revealed that the victim had been dead for less than 12 hours before being dismembered with a sharp instrument, likely a machete.

The remains were later stuffed into a suitcase and dumped in the sea near Manoel Island, where they were eventually discovered.

Meanwhile, the police are intensifying efforts to identify both the victim and the perpetrator as part of their mission to solve Malta’s fifth homicide of the year.

Minister Chris Bonett recently visited the Msida Creek project’s first phase, which began a few weeks ago and is advancing swiftly. Project architects explained the works in detail to Minister Bonett and Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul.

The construction site has been secured with two-meter-high concrete panels, while a segregated pedestrian route has been established to ensure public safety around the area.

Preparatory works are currently underway, including the installation of 86 pilings that will support a new road linking Ta’ Xbiex Seafront with Pietà.

Sheet piles are also being installed to create a water channel, and the surrounding quay is being reinforced to enhance dredging capabilities.

In the coming days, part of the central strip on Mikiel Anton Vassalli Road will be removed to open two temporary lanes toward the Birkirkara Bypass, allowing for road wall repairs to begin.

Minister Bonett expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Today’s visit highlights our commitment to ensuring this project continues efficiently with minimal inconvenience.

The ongoing work is crucial to providing top-quality infrastructure that supports the continuous development of Msida and our country.”

He also commended the opening of a temporary parking area with 70 spaces on Clarence Street, which mitigates parking challenges caused by the works.

The next phase will involve excavation near the Workers’ Monument to prepare for a water channel aimed at preventing flooding.

A temporary road between the monument and the play area will also be constructed to facilitate access to Triq D’Argens. This adjustment is essential for the subsequent stage, which involves connecting Pietà Seafront to Mikiel Anton Vassalli Road.

Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul remarked, “Our dedicated team continues to make significant progress on this transformative project, and we remain committed to maintaining full transparency while delivering high-quality work for the Maltese people.”
