Stunning footage sent to this newsroom shows Malta’s sunset and Etna from the window of a plane.

As the passengers are soaring overhead, the beautiful horizon can be seen tinged in orange and blue as the sun sets following yet another day.

And a short distance away – considering how it seems up above – is Mount Etna on neighbouring Sicily.

Greek Woman Arrested Over Importation Of Drugs

A 27-year old Greek woman has been arrested over importation of drugs, as when she arrived in Malta 15kg of cannabis was found in her luggage.

The woman arrived from Madrid via Frankfurt last Sunday night. Customs officials carrying out  inspections with arrivals, immediately flagged her as being suspicious and the police were called on to confirm their suspicions.

Their suspicions were proven right as the drugs were found in packets in her luggage.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry with the woman set to face court today at around 14:30 in front of Magistrate Abigail Critien.

Yesterday, Maltese singer and songwriter Amber Bondin released the official music video for ‘Għanja lil Ġużi’ – a ballad for her and her partner ‘Olwyn Jo’ son Ġużi.

Amber unveiled the song live during X Factor Malta Season 4, when she had the role of judge on the panel.

Amber performed the song live during the X Factor Malta Season 4 finale, dedicating it not only to her new son but all those who take on the title of a parent.

‘Children are a beautiful gift and we show never stop showing or telling them how much we love them’, Amber had said on social media.

With the song available on Spotify, the official music not only has Amber perform the song but also features moments she shared with her son and her partner as they venture into life as newfound parents.

The beloved animated series, adored by children globally, is set to make its debut in Maltese homes, promising laughter, learning, and endless fun for little ones across the island.

In collaboration with Ċentru tal-Ilsien Malti, Peppa Pig will be fully translated into Maltese, ensuring that Maltese youngsters can enjoy a delightful viewing experience while becoming more familiar with the Maltese language.

Ben Camille, Co-founder and Director of Media Exclusive, expressed his personal attachment to this project due to his love for children. He stressed the significance of promoting the Maltese language by providing children with enjoyable and entertaining avenues for learning it and Peppa Pig bil-Malti aims to do that.

Rachel Cachia, one of Media Exclusive’s Executive Producers and Director, mentioned that scripts are currently being translated from English to Maltese. She emphasised the need for using the right Maltese words, along with modern terms, so that children can understand and connect with the language they hear from adults.

Norma Saliba, the Executive Head of Ċentru tal-Ilsien Malti, said that children need more audiovisual resources in Maltese to be able to understand, speak, read and write in Maltese.  She emphasized that the Centre, as a promoter of Maltese, is committed to support projects like Peppa Pig in Maltese so that children enjoy learning the Maltese language.
