Struggling Sea Turtle Rescued After Being Spotted Unable To Dive

A group of people, were out at sea when they spotted a turtle unable to dive. Observing the creature closely, they confirmed it was still struggling before calling the Wildlife Rescue Team’s Emergency Line and bringing the turtle to Dahlet Qorrot.

From there, a swift relay of volunteers from Nature Trust – FEE Malta’s Gozo Section to the Malta team ensured the turtle was transported as quickly as possible to the Xrobb L-Għaġin Nature Park and Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The operation was made even smoother thanks to assistance from Gozo Channel Operations Limited.

The turtle, now named Chiquito, will undergo a thorough assessment by a veterinarian to determine the cause of its diving difficulties. Appropriate treatment will then be administered to aid its recovery.
