Stephanie Vassallo Is Set To Join The Siġġiewi Local Council

Stephanie Vassallo is set to join the Siġġiewi local council after emerging as the sole nominee in a casual election to fill the seat vacated by Francine Farrugia.
The Electoral Commission confirmed that only Vassallo’s nomination was submitted by the close of the three-day nomination period.
The vote count took place on Tuesday, 19 August, at 9 a.m. at the Naxxar counting hall.
Vassallo, representing the Nationalist Party, will succeed fellow PN councillor Francine Farrugia, who resigned from all party roles last week.
Farrugia stepped down after being charged in court with misappropriating €2.3 million from MCAST during her tenure managing the payroll.
In last year’s local council elections, Farrugia secured 377 votes, while Vassallo received 133. The Siġġiewi council is composed of seven members, four from the PN and three from the Labour Party.
