The streaming giant Netflix’s head boss has revealed that Squid Game could become their biggest TV show ever. Netflix revealed that Extraction nearly reached 100 million accounts in the first 28 days of its release, with Bridgerton reaching up to 82 million homes in the same time frame. The Witcher, Bird Box and Stranger Things occupied the top ten list, but the Korean TV show could dominated the top of the list if the trend continues. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed that Squid Game is the world’s number one series at the moment and was on pace to be the most popular Netflix show ever.
Sarandos exclaimed that this was unexpected, especially considering that the series is immensely gruesome and gory, accompanied with psychological terror. The TV show has a simple premise – broke players compete in a selection of children’s games for a share in a $38.5 million prize. If one doesn’t win or cooperate, well, you’re killed off. With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the series might just make it to the top of every list.
