Żurrieq Half Marathon Surpasses 800 Registrations Ahead of November Race

The 27th edition of the Express Trailers Żurrieq Half Marathon and 10km is gathering momentum, with more than 800 athletes already registered for the event scheduled for Sunday, 15 November.

The figure exceeds the 767 registrations recorded at the same stage last year, when participation eventually surpassed 1,300 athletes, raising expectations of another successful edition.

Organised by Żurrieq Wolves Athletic Club, the event has grown considerably since Express Trailers became its sponsor in 2013, when around 130 runners participated. Registrations subsequently exceeded 1,500 in 2018, establishing the race among Malta’s leading road-running events.

Express Trailers CEO Etienne Attard highlighted the importance of long-term sponsorship in supporting sustainable growth, organisation and athlete safety. Besides financial backing, the company provides logistical assistance, including vehicles used during the event.

Joe Micallef, representing organisers Malta Marathon, welcomed the encouraging registration figures and acknowledged the sponsor’s contribution to the event’s development.

Alongside the half marathon and 10km run, this year’s programme includes a 10km walk and a 1.5km children’s race, offering opportunities for participants of different ages and abilities.
