Żabbar St Patrick and Naxxar Lions Issue Strong Statements After Match Altercation

Żabbar St Patrick F.C. Academy and Naxxar Lions Football Nursery have both released official statements following the incident that disrupted Saturday’s Under‑17 match between the two sides.

Żabbar St Patrick expressed deep regret over the altercation, condemning the behaviour as unacceptable and inconsistent with the club’s values of respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. The academy also wished a swift recovery to the injured players and apologised to supporters and the wider football community.

Naxxar Lions echoed the same sentiment, stressing that such scenes have no place in football or within their community. The nursery extended well‑wishes to the injured players and confirmed it is awaiting official reports from the Malta FA and the match referee while conducting its own internal review.

Both clubs reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the integrity of youth football and ensuring that their programmes continue to promote respect, safety, and proper conduct on and off the pitch.
