Youth FA Joins Forces with PREVENT-CRC to Promote Colorectal Cancer Awareness

The Youth Football Association (Youth FA) has partnered with the PREVENT-CRC team to raise awareness about colorectal cancer prevention.
Led by Professor Godfrey Grech, the PREVENT-CRC Project is a community-focused research initiative aimed at identifying and tackling factors that can help prevent the disease.
As part of the collaboration, the Youth FA is providing access to the PREVENT-CRC Community Research Mobile Unit at selected grassroots football festivals throughout the season.
The programme began with the Under-10 Enjoying The Game Festival on Saturday, 17 January, at the Centenary Stadium. Parents and relatives attending these events are encouraged to visit the Mobile Unit and participate voluntarily in the research.
Stephanie Rocco, Secretary General of the Youth FA, emphasised the organisation’s wider mission: “While our work centres on grassroots and youth football, our commitment goes beyond sport. We strive to promote healthy lifestyles and the wellbeing of the wider community.
Supporting the PREVENT-CRC project at our events is a natural extension of that mission.”
Professor Godfrey Grech described the partnership as a meaningful step towards prioritising prevention over treatment: “We are delighted that organisations like the Youth FA and Ħamrun Ħanin are supporting this initiative. Their involvement enhances our outreach, encouraging more people to take part in this important research. These efforts not only assist those currently in need but also help build a healthier future for generations to come.”
