Young Maltese Athletes Deliver Record-Breaking Day in Brno

Rush Athletic Club enjoyed another outstanding day at the 2026 European Kids Athletics Games in Brno, delivering a blend of national‑level excellence, personal bests and a growing list of finalists as the young squad continued to impress on the international stage.
The headline moment belonged to Amy Barberi, who produced a superb 23.17m throw in the javelin a NEW Malta U14 National Record (pending ratification) reaffirming her status as one of the country’s brightest emerging talents.
There were more standout performances across the track and field. Nathan Bonnici qualified for two finals, leaping 5.11m in the long jump and clocking 19.75s in the 150m. Luke Spiteri also reached the 60m final, finishing a strong 7th overall.
Further quality results came from Giacomo Portelli (Long Jump 5.42m), Eliza Debattista (60m SB), Elisa Ellul (60m 8.83s, 2nd in heat), Lara Sciberras (60m 9.13s), and a series of PBs from Hazel Muscat (600m 1:59.11), Martina Mintoff (150m 20.55s), Elisa Mintoff (150m 21.57s) and Thomas Debono (150m).
