Yan Camilleri Delivers Courageous Comeback in 47°C Karting Heat
Local

In searing 47°C track temperatures, Yan Camilleri produced one of the most determined performances of his young karting career, turning a difficult weekend into a statement of maturity and fighting spirit.

The team battled setup issues throughout practice, only finding the right balance moments before the final. Yan qualified P5 and showed strong pace in the pre-final, but while pushing aggressively to gain positions, he was involved in an incident with Zara that dropped him to 11th. His recovery to P5 was outstanding, yet a five‑second penalty fully accepted by the team, who apologised to Zara placed him P7 for the final.

From there, Yan responded brilliantly. With the kart finally dialled in, he delivered clean overtakes and relentless pace, climbing to third place, finishing just 0.075 seconds off second and 0.369 from victory.

The front‑running battle between Manfredi Cracolici and Julian Wayne Vella was a highlight, while Zara’s strong pace was rightly acknowledged.

A weekend of highs, lows and valuable lessons and a podium earned through grit, growth and determination.
