Yan Camilleri Battles to 12th Place in Challenging Sarno Karting Final
Local

Maltese karting driver Yan Camilleri endured a challenging but valuable weekend at the Coppa dei Campioni ACI in Sarno, Naples, finishing 12th out of 29 competitors in difficult weather conditions.

Making his first appearance at the Italian circuit, Camilleri demonstrated impressive pace during Saturday's qualifying session, briefly holding pole position before traffic on his final lap cost him valuable time, leaving him 13th.

The young driver responded strongly in the semi-final, gaining five positions and securing seventh place on the starting grid for Sunday's final.

However, unexpected rainfall shortly before the race created extremely slippery conditions, with competitors forced to race on slick tyres.

Despite the challenging circumstances, which saw several drivers fail to finish, Camilleri maintained his concentration and successfully brought his kart home in 12th position.

Although disappointed with the final result, Camilleri remained positive about the experience, highlighting the lessons learned and valuable international racing experience gained.

He also expressed gratitude to his family and supporters, including Simon and Collette Camilleri and Carlo and Dino Castorina, for their continued encouragement.

Determined to improve, Camilleri now turns his attention towards his next racing challenge with renewed motivation.
