Wallbank and Zammit Triumph in EuroSport Pembroke 5km Races

The 30th edition of the EUROSPORT Pembroke Road Races delivered an exciting morning of competition, with Tommy Wallbank of Mellieħa AC and Alexia Zammit of Żurrieq Wolves claiming victory in the senior 5km events. Wallbank secured the men’s title in an impressive 16:06, leading a remarkable clean sweep for Mellieħa AC. Teammates Emanuel Zammit, Brandon Saliba, Adrian Cutajar and Luke Vella followed closely, taking second through fifth place respectively.
In the women’s 5km race, Zammit crossed the line in 21:20, finishing ahead of Lucretia Hili of St Joseph School. Sharon Sammut, Megan Sponneck and Stephania Camilleri completed the top five.
The event also featured competitive 2km races for U16, U14 and U12 athletes. In the Boys U16 category, Jake Callus (Maria Regina) took first place, followed by Matthew Xuereb (Pembroke Athleta) and Adon Pace Schembri (St Patrick’s). The Girls U16 race was won by Nina Parnis (Pembroke Athleta), with Amy Camilleri (Mellieħa AC) finishing second.
Veljko Stojanovic (Serbian RC) topped the Boys U14 podium ahead of David Spiteri (La Salle) and Mance Niksic (Serbian RC). In the Girls U14 race, Pembroke Athleta swept the podium with Emily Vella, Aurora Desira and Nicole Parnis.
The Boys U12 category saw Beppe Briffa (Sirens RC) take victory, followed by Andrea Barbara (Pembroke Athleta) and Kylen Agius (Żurrieq Wolves). The Girls U12 race was won by Masa Suljovic (Serbian RC), with Jade Farrugia (Athletics Academy) and Clara Gatt (Pembroke Athleta) completing the podium.
