Tommy Wallbank and Isaura Camilleri Zahra emerged as the standout performers in the penultimate race of the Hudson Race Series powered by Nike, held in Burmarrad on Sunday morning.

The flat and fast course attracted a strong field of experienced runners and newcomers, with competitors split between the 10km and 5km events. The 10km runners completed two laps of the 5km circuit in searing conditions.

Wallbank dominated the men’s 10km, setting the pace from the early stages and gradually opening a gap on his rivals. He crossed the finish line in 32:53, ahead of Mark Herrera in 33:08 and Matthew Xuereb in 34:08.

In the women’s 10km, Camilleri Zahra secured her first victory of the series with an impressive time of 38:01. Race favourite Josann Attard Pulis finished second in 40:08, while Marija Cumbo took third in 40:18.

The men’s 5km was a much tighter affair, with John Mintoff taking first place in 15:50, just five seconds ahead of Brandon Saliba. Jacob Greengrass followed closely in third at 15:57.

Roberta Schembri marked her return to the series with victory in the women’s 5km, clocking 18:18. Lisa Bezzina finished second in 19:11, with Daniela Gatt third in 19:59.

The 2026 Hudson Race Series concludes on 8 December with the final race in Valletta. Organisers also thanked the Hudson Group, St Paul’s Bay Local Council, Transport Malta, race officials and medical teams for their support.
