VETERAN TRIATHLETE FABIO SPITERI CROWNED SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR

Veteran triathlete Fabio Spiteri was named Sportsman of the Year at the 66th edition of the Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali, organised by the Malta Sports Journalists Association. He shared the spotlight with footballer Haley Bugeja a World Cup organised by the International Ultra Triathlon Association and set a national record by finishing second in a Deca Ultratriathlon in France. He also placed second in another Deca race in Taiwan, achievements that earned him a world ranking of No. 9 in IUTA standings.

On social media, Spiteri expressed gratitude to the Malta Sports Journalists Association, his wife Diana Spiteri, his support crew including masseur Philip Cachia, and the Malta Triathlon Federation. He said the award gives him a major boost ahead of his next challenge: a 20x Ironman race in Brazil next May.

Spiteri’s recognition highlights his enduring dedication, resilience, and status as one of Malta’s premier ultra endurance athletes.
