Valletta FC Sporting Director Reflects On European Loss

Valletta FC's Sporting Director, Nicky Saliba, reflected on Valletta's 1-3 loss to Raków Częstochowa in Poland yesterday evening.

He said that the result does not reflect the team's performance on the pitch, highlighting the weight of Valletta's missed penalty in the 80th minute, when the score was still tied at 1-1.

Saliba argued that the penalty miss gave Valletta's opponents courage, while admitting that it demoralised the boys in white, leading to the hosts to come from behind to establish a two goal advantage heading into the return leg.

Nevertheless, he remarked that the performance was a positive one, considering that Valletta's opponents made it to the final 16 of last season's competition. He urged all those behind the team to focus on the next game with positivity, while thanking the travelling fans for their support.

He expressed hope that the fans will stay behind the team during Valletta's home game at the Centenary Stadium.
