Valletta FC have taken to social media to celebrate the breakthrough season of their highly-rated youngster Matteo Paolo Grech, following a standout campaign with their title-winning U21 squad.

Grech finished the season as top scorer in the U21 Section A League, recording an impressive 29 goal contributions, made up of 17 goals and 12 assists. His consistent output played a key role in Valletta’s successful season at youth level.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is Grech’s age. Born in 2008, he competed against players up to three years older within the 2005–2008 age bracket, yet still managed to establish himself as one of the division’s standout performers.

A Malta U18 international, Grech has been praised for his maturity, combining clinical finishing with strong creative ability in the final third. Valletta FC highlighted his intelligence on the ball and his ability to both score and assist as key elements of his game.

The club also described his development as a reflection of their “Gen-V” pathway, designed to produce disciplined and competitive players ready for higher levels of football.

With his rapid progression and consistent performances, Grech is being viewed as one of Valletta’s most promising young talents, with his current trajectory suggesting even greater challenges ahead.
