Valletta FC Football Campus Project Advances Through Parliamentary Committee Stage
Local

Valletta Football Club announces that the Valletta FC Football Campus project has successfully passed the NAO Accounts Parliamentary Committee stage earlier today, marking a significant milestone in its progression.

The Club welcomes this advancement, which further elevates the project from a football focused initiative to one of clear national importance within Malta’s broader football development agenda.

Crucially, today’s approval at Committee stage reflects unanimous agreement between Government and the Opposition, confirming that the value of the project transcends political lines and is recognised at a national level. This broad consensus follows the Prime Minister’s announcement in February 2026 that Government would be proposing the allocation of a site in Pembroke for the development of the Campus, a position that was subsequently reinforced through public support expressed by the Leader of the Opposition. Together, these developments provide the unified backing required for the successful delivery of a project of long-term impact.

As previously outlined, the Valletta FC Football Campus, which is aligned with existing planning policies and frameworks, is envisioned as a state-of-the-art football hub, with a strong focus on youth development, education, wellbeing and sport. Once completed, the Campus will represent a first-of-its-kind facility in Malta, forming part of a holistic vision to deliver highlevel sporting infrastructure. It is expected to generate opportunities across multiple sectors, including football, health, rehabilitation, sports science, education and sports management, alongside related ancillary activities.

Commenting on this milestone, Valletta FC President Claudio Grech remarked that “today’s unanimous support at Committee stage sends a very strong and clear message — that this project is firmly in the national interest and rises above political considerations,” highlighting the project's aim in "providing our youths, children and our community with the infrastructure they deserve."
